Country names are introduced into the database as soon as they are
needed. The following names are in the database at present.
Note: "Europe" is included because one of the uses of the
"country" concept is for indicating the domain of a research program,
and we need an appropriate domain for e.g. Esprit.
Note also that the above are the actual country codes used
in the database. The printouts e.g. in various HMTL pages
usually use the country's regular name, which differs from the country
code in only one case at present: the country code Britain
is printed out as the official United Kingdom. When data is
entered into the database, it is country code that should be used.
